Where has this week gone! I just haven’t been able to get my act together. I partly haven’t felt well, the laundry for our apartment has been broken, and yesterday after finally sitting down at my computer the blog server was out. Apparently I was destined to be unplugged this week.
Anyways, I am finally getting things together and playing catch up today. So I’m just going to share my Thursday post on friday..why not.
Like I mentioned last week, my latest Craigslist searching landed me with a beautiful armoire that also happens to weigh 100 lbs (I think). The previous owner was moving and I managed to negotiate the price to $85. It is such a nice wardrobe that I think I really found a great deal with this. The wardrobe sat in the middle of the living room for a few days before moving it because it is so heavy. After we barely got the armoire in the apartment I came prepared for this big move to the bedroom. Joe thought my gloves were hysterical and I was not appreciating the photo (but I guess i’ll share it anyway).
We were also prepared with our other moving supplies. How did we keep the doors shut while we moved this you ask? An iphone cord of course. Don’t you use your iphone cord as a rope? Don’t mind the finger on the camera.
The wardrobe is now in position and I am slowly filling it up with all my clothes and getting them officially off of the floor. Hooray!
This is obviously a very old piece because the shelves are labeled with handkerchiefs and other fun old-fashioned phrases.
The second great find for the week is an old trunk. I have been hoping to find some sort of chest or trunk that could be a coffee table and a place for storage. However looking on Ebay and Etsy, many old trunks sell for 150-500 dollars. I was so lucky to find this trunk advertised on Craigslist in New Orleans for $25!!! What a steal! I am sure I was probably the first responder since I emailed the owner at 7:45 in the morning.
The owner said she used this to take things to college and then later as a coffee table as well. She was even able to give me the key that locks it.
The NOLA apartment is coming together and I am hoping to finally take a few pictures of the whole apartment now that it is reaching a functional state. I now want to start adding more decorative touches and will be taking a look at TJ Maxx and Home Goods this weekend for any deals.
Have a nice weekend!
